Schedule jam-packed with work, kids, school? This elevated tuna casserole made with Wild Planet Skipjack Wild Tuna gives all the nostalgia feels! Growing up, my Mom would make this recipe once a week but we are elevating a bit from traditional, and crafting a rich homemade cream sauce. Directions

  1. Bring water to boil and cook pasta according to package instructions.

  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  3. Prep ingredients by roughly chopping the shallot, mushrooms and garlic. Shred the cheese if not using pre-shredded.

  4. In a large frying pan, add half of the butter and begin sautéing the shallot, garlic and mushroom. Allow the ingredients to cook for at least 4-5 minutes until soft and translucent.

  5. Once the ingredients cook through, add the flour and whisk for one minute until the flour smell cooks off.

  6. Deglaze the pan with stock, continuing to whisk until smooth and no clumps appear.

  7. Pour in cream, Dijon mustard and one cup of cheese. Whisk until smooth and cheese sauce begins to form.

  8. When the pasta is ready, drain and add to the pan with the cream sauce.

  9. Add remaining ingredients; tuna, green peas, 1/2 cup of cheese, capers, celery salt, dried dill, lemon and pepper seasoning and spinach. Stir until ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  10. Add casserole to a baking dish. Top tuna casserole with remaining cheese.

  11. Mix breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese, spread evenly on top of tuna casserole. Bake until the cheese is melted and golden on top and cooked through, about 20 minutes.
