This Lemon Dill Sardine Melt is incredibly high in anti-inflammatory omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, antioxidants, & so much more.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Sourdough Bread

  • 1 (4.4oz) can Wild Planet Wild Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • ¼ cup Red Onion, finely chopped

  • 2-4 oz. Cream Cheese, room temperature

  • 2 Tbsp Fresh Dill, chopped

  • 1 Tbsp Honey

  • Juice of 1 Lemon

  • 2 slices White Cheddar cheese, or Havarti cheese

  • 1 Tbsp Butter, softened

  • Salt & Black Pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the drained sardines, finely chopped red onion, softened cream cheese, chopped dill, honey, and lemon juice. Mix well. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. If you prefer the mixture to be creamier, add more cream cheese.

  2. On a slice of sourdough, add the cheese slices in a single layer.

  3. Spread a generous layer of the lemon dill sardine mixture. Sandwich with the second slice of sourdough bread.

  4. Butter both sides of the sandwich, then add to a heated griddle over medium heat.

  5. Cook 2-3 minutes on each, until crispy and golden brown. Enjoy warm!
